As the foundational science, physical science explains everything we can observe around us. Physical science is a study of matter and energy. It is about both the physical world around us, the world we can see, and the sub-microscopic world which is so fine that even the most powerful of microscopes will not make it visible in a direct sense. It deals with the forces that shape the world and the ways that energy is used.

Students will be provided with Glencoe Physical Science

After completing this course, you will be able to:

  1. Explain fundamental scientific principles and their technological applications.
  2. Use the concept of force and motion and solve problems.
  3. State the differences between forms and kinds of energy.
  4. Describe the electromagnetic nature of matter.
  5. Recognize properties of wave motion and identify several different types of waves.
  6. Distinguish kinds and phases of matter.
  7. Recognize the role of atomic structure in chemical bonding, reactivity, and radioactivity.
  8. Classify all matter as being either an element, compound, mixture or solution.
