Spanish 1 Print
Spanish 1 introduces students to the Spanish language and culture through a combination of stories, narratives, pictures and audio clips. Equal emphasis is placed on developing skills in grammar, reading, and speaking this increasingly important language. Students will learn how to communicate in daily conversations, write sentences and pronounce the language by using the vocabulary and verb tenses they have learned in the course. Students will also learn geography and culture where Spanish is spoken natively.
Students will be provided with the textbook Realidades 1
When you complete this course you will be able to:
1. Engage in conversations, provide and obtain information, express feelings and emotions, and exchange opinions. (Standard 1.1)
2. Understand and interpret written and spoken Spanish on a variety of topics. (Standard 1.2)
3. Present information, concepts, and ideas to an audience of listeners or readers on a variety of topics. (Standard 1.3)
4. Demonstrate an understanding of the practices and perspectives of the Spanish and Hispanic cultures, and make comparisons between these cultures and your own.
(Standards 2.1, 2.2, 4.2)
5. Reinforce and further your knowledge of other disciplines (math, science, art, etc.) through the use of Spanish. (Standard 3.1)
6. Show evidence of becoming a life-long learner by using Spanish for your personal enjoyment and enrichment. (Standard 5.2)
